CMC chittoor campus status-As reported by cmc

Here is the news article on CMC chittoor campus, courtesy cmcvellore.org

For the first time in its 110 year history, the Christian Medical College is opening a second campus. On Saturday, April 24 several hundred people gathered to celebrate this historic moment at a spot on the old Bangalore-Chennai highway, a few kilometers south of the town of Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. It is here, on over 600 acres of land purchased from the government of Andhra Pradesh that CMC will build a facility that promises in the long run to equal or surpass the present Vellore location in size and importance.

CMC Director, Suranjan Bhattacharji, envisions a university of the health sciences, which will emphasize the connections between body and spirit, the secular and the sacred, the earthly and the divine. “With the cooperation of the Andhra Pradesh government, we have purchased sufficient land to build the clinics, labs, classrooms, offices and housing we so urgently need,” remarked Dr. Bhattacharji. The April 24 event inaugurated construction of the boundary wall, the first step in opening the new property for use by CMC. Within three months, CMC expects to open the first clinic. Nurses will initiate health services with doctors arriving shortly thereafter

The chief guest, Shri C. K. Jayachandra Reddy, who represents Chittoor in the state legislature, welcomed CMC to the area. Speaking in Telugu, the language of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Reddy emphasized that CMC services will be available to all, regardless of economic and social status. Having himself been treated at CMC, Mr. Reddy affirmed the quality of care provided by CMC. He noted for the benefit of local people in the audience that CMC health professionals honored their “favorite” God through service to all of humanity. He explained that CMC was not motivated by profit, and he urged CMC to do all in its power to keep its prices within reach of the common man and woman.

The new campus is a twenty minute drive from Katpadi (Vellore) train station and a similar distance from a station at Chittoor. These rail facilities combined with the location on a highway will allow the new campus to serve patients from all over India as well as local villages. Approximately 600 patients a day come to CMC Vellore from the Chittoor area, and it is hoped that much of this flow can be re-directed to the new campus, relieving some of the pressure on Vellore outpatient clinics.

Chittoor Roads-Good days ahead?

Friends,
Atlast hopes are bright that chittoor roads will see some development. Our friend KS PRAVEEN gives the ground report.

1. The road from cb road junction passing through greamspet, Durga nagar circle, pvkn upto reddygunta is to be 4 laned by this year end.

2. Similarly the road from district court(aragonda cross) to 6 km from town limits is to be widened to 4 lane configuration.

3. Improvement and widening of Bangalore byepass(visweswarayya road ) is strongly being considered to be taken up with world bank funding by r&b department.

4. Gayathri projects which has taken up the upgradation of chittoor puttur road has started work.

5. The 4 laning of Putalapattu Naidupet road is stalled even after finalising tenders because this was converted into national highway as NH18a. Now as we know that national highways dept always had this step motherly attitude for chittoor roads, we have to wait.

6. The preliminary survey and feasibility study of 4 laning NH4 within AP is still not completed.

So the roads in and around Ctr are being taken up slowly for improvement. When they will finish ? Now a big puzzle.

I think we are already used to waiting for development. So lets wait

Great news for Chittoor

Dear chittooreans, first of all say thanks to PRAVEEN KS for bringing out this great news--

Our Chittoor is ready to be promoted to city. A proposal on this regard has been submitted to the government. Muncipal adminisration and urban development dept has forwarded this proposal to director of muncipal administration for further process on 27-11-09. But presently this process is on hold because of census going on. Already chittoor muncipal council has passed an unanimous resolution in this regard and submitted to govt for further action. Collector, Ctr is overlooking these procedures. By this year end this proposal might become fruitful
Other towns which are in this process along with our Ctr are ongole, khammam and proddutur
